Join Routes on 24th May, 4pm to celebrate the launch of Helena Wray's new book, Article 8 ECHR, Family Reunification and the UK's Supreme Court: Family Matters?

Article 8 ECHR, Family Reunification and the UK's Supreme Court: Family Matters? by Helena Wray (Law School, University of Exeter), published by Hart in February 2023, analyses how courts reconcile the protection of family life with immigration control in human rights cases. Through a study of ECtHR and UK Supreme Court cases, it shows that tensions are reflected in the language, argumentation, and structure of judgments, revealing judges to be strategic actors. It also considers how, in a more sympathetic political context, judges could improve the protection of family life in immigration cases.

Helena will be joined by Professor Betty de Hart (Vrije Universiteit), Professor Marie-Bénédicte Dembour (Ghent University) and Dr Jo Wilding (University of Sussex).
